The natural beauty of the Carolinas and the vision of Daniel Stowe converge at one of the nation’s greatest gardens. In 1989, the retired executive from Belmont, 20 miles west of Charlotte, dedicated land and established a foundation to create a world-class botanical garden. Today, more than 450 acres along the banks of Lake Wylie include an orchid conservatory, themed gardens, wooded trails, fountains, canals and plants from around the world.
